GEM Identification
As I am going through my reference for gem identification today, it dawned on me that not a lot of people are aware of the importance of value of the gemstone that they are getting. Instant gratification to purchasing a piece of mediocre jewellery that looks good but of lesser value is a frequent choice for most shoppers, and they are not even aware of it. Shoppers get the impression that they are getting a good deal by paying lower price but what they have in their hands are not worth even one-third of the piece of jewellery they purchased.
How do we equip ourselves with the right knowlegdge when planning a purchase of a piece of fine jewellery? First ask yourselves these questions, how much am I prepared to spend on the piece of jewellery and what kind of gemstone are you planning to purchase. Is it a gift or a keepsake for yourself. Do I want to have an appraisal for it or just anything that looks good in the countertop.
Once you have made up your mind what the basic requisite is for your needs, then you can do some research on the kind of gemstone you are looking for. For example, you are looking for a nice ruby ring. Great! Start researching on ruby. Get as much information as possible prior to shopping for one. You will be surprised how much better you feel while shopping for your ruby ring with the extra knowledge that you have acquired beforehand. You can even show off a little at the jewellery store and impress yourselves!
Good Luck!
