Happy Thanksgiving!
Greetings from Chicago! Do you know that most people starts to gain weight right from Thanksgiving, all through Christmas and into the New Year! Wow, we are talking about a progressive unconscious way of accumulating weight and inches to ourselves while having a good time! Well, that is okay, but how do we enjoy the good food and celebration and not gain weight at the same time?
Here is a few simple ideas for you. Make a list of your favourite food at a Thanksgiving dinner. This is your list for the rest of the holiday season. Next to each food item, put 1 to 5, 1 being least likely to care about and 5 being a food item that you cannot give up. Look at your list, what do you see? Obviously, for some people it's the spinach dip that they cannot give up, or the wine and others, definitely got to have that turkey kind of thing!
When you get to the dinner party, sort out the least favourite versus the favourite food. Your plate might look like this: 2 slices of turkey breast, 1 serving of sweet potato, 1 serving of vegetables, 1 serving of pumpkin pie, 2 servings of stuffings, 2 glasses of wine, etc. HALF THE PORTIONS! Not to worry, you will not feel hungry as long as you prepare your mind to decide what you are going to eat beforehand.
Get busy in catching up with your families and friends, help the host a bit in serving, and enjoy the company that evening!
Cheers,
Anne - The Bling Girl
